Exploring the New Editing Tools

The image editing options now available in V6 include:

• Upscale (Subtle)

• Vary (Subtle)

• Custom Zoom
• Make Square

The Vary feature is particularly noteworthy, enabling users to select specific areas of an image for modification while preserving the rest. This grants users a higher level of precision in the image generation process.

The inpainting function in Midjourney V6 allows for seamless modifications, as illustrated when the AI adeptly fills in a selected neck area with a golden necklace, leaving the surrounding image untouched.

The Pan feature has also seen enhancements, making it easier to navigate and create larger images. It operates similarly to Zoom, allowing users to zoom into different sections of expansive landscapes or scenes, resulting in improved continuity and quality.

Access to Image Creation

Now, image generation is available to Midjourney users who have created at least 5,000 images. This is a welcome update for many in the 5K club, especially since just two weeks prior, access was restricted to those with a minimum of 10,000 images.

To check your image generation count, simply use the “/info” command in the Discord bot. You can visit the Midjourney website here: http://alpha.midjourney.com/

As a casual user, I have generated 1,107 images, so I’m still working towards the 5K threshold. I hope the Midjourney team will continue to extend access to more users in lower tiers soon.

New User Feedback Mechanism

Midjourney has introduced a new “Feedback” feature aimed at gathering essential requests and comments from users. By using the “/feedback” command in Discord, users can submit their thoughts and upvote suggestions from others.

This feedback will be compiled into a priority list, assisting the engineering team in focusing on the most requested enhancements. Discussions regarding this feedback will take place during office hours, and visualizations of the data will be shared with the community.
